MRT Jakarta Implements Rp1 Fare for DKI Jakarta's 499th Anniversary: Schedule and Conditions
In celebration of Jakarta’s 499th anniversary, PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) is offering a special gift to residents of the capital and its surrounding areas. As a form of support for the DKI Jakarta Anniversary (HUT DKI), management is implementing a special fare of Rp1 for all journeys on specific dates in June 2026.
This policy is not merely a ceremonial celebration, but a strategic move by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to encourage the public to switch to public transport. With such an affordable fare, it is hoped that citizen mobility during the city’s anniversary celebrations can proceed more efficiently and in an environmentally friendly manner.
According to an official statement from PT MRT Jakarta’s President Director, Tuhiyat, this special fare does not apply for the entire month, but rather on three predetermined days. The complete schedule is as follows:
This policy refers to the Decree of the Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency Number 102 of 2026 concerning the Provision of Free Public Transport Services and/or Rp1 Fare in the Context of the 499th Anniversary of the City of Jakarta.
PT MRT Jakarta’s President Director, Tuhiyat, emphasised that this initiative is part of the company’s commitment to realising a sustainable urban mobility system. “We hope this momentum can further increase public interest in switching to public transport,” he stated.
With the public shifting from private vehicles to integrated mass transit, Jakarta is expected to reduce traffic congestion and lower air pollution levels. Improved transport service integration is a key factor in creating a more connected and efficient Jakarta.
The implementation of this promotional fare also comes amid a positive trend in MRT Jakarta usage. Based on data from the DKI Jakarta Central Statistics Agency (BPS), there has been significant growth in the number of service users:
Although there was a monthly decline of 3.45 percent in passenger numbers (March compared to February), the year-on-year figures show that public trust in the MRT continues to increase. The monthly decrease is often influenced by the number of calendar days or other seasonal factors.
