MRT Jakarta Highlights Inclusivity in Dukuh Atas Pedestrian Deck Development

Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) is emphasising the aspect of inclusivity in the construction and development of the Dukuh Atas Pedestrian Deck in Jakarta.

Agus Trihan, Advisor of the Programme Management Office Division at MRT Jakarta, said this is reflected in the supporting access provided for customers with disabilities.

“Yes, so for customers with special needs, there are lifts, and we have also built ramps and escalators. So it should indeed be far more comfortable,” Agus said during the MRTJ Fellowship Programme 2026 event in Jakarta on Thursday.

He went on to say that the aim is for the Dukuh Atas Pedestrian Deck not only to be integrated with other public transport modes, but also to provide comfort for everyone who passes through it.

Moreover, the Dukuh Atas Pedestrian Deck is being built in a circular shape with a diameter of around 118 metres and a width of approximately 12 metres, making users’ mobility interconnected and efficient.

“We know that climbing stairs is quite difficult (for people with disabilities). So the closest solution now is the use of full escalators, so people will find it more comfortable to go up, including wheelchair users who can also use the escalators,” said Agus.

“In addition, there will also be tactile guiding strips on the deck, as a commitment to accessibility for disabled people,” he added.

Meanwhile, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government officially held the groundbreaking ceremony for the circular Dukuh Atas Pedestrian Deck, located in Setiabudi, South Jakarta, on Sunday (21 June).

The provincial government is targeting completion in 2028 for the pedestrian facility, which will connect various public transport modes, namely MRT Jakarta, LRT Jakarta, LRT Jabodetabek, the KRL commuter rail, Transjakarta and the airport train.

The pedestrian deck is expected to deliver a more seamless journey whilst reducing the distance and travel time for users.
