PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) is highlighting the aspect of inclusivity in the construction and development of the Dukuh Atas Pedestrian Deck in Jakarta. Advisor to the MRT Jakarta Program Management Office Division, Agus Trihan, stated that this is reflected in the supporting access provided for customers with disabilities. “Yes, so for customers with special needs, there are indeed elevators, and we are also building ramps and escalators. So it should be much more comfortable now,” Agus said during the MRTJ Fellowship Program 2026 event in Jakarta on Thursday. He further explained that the aim is for the Dukuh Atas Pedestrian Deck facility not only to be integrated with other public transport modes but also to provide comfort for everyone who passes through it. Moreover, the Dukuh Atas Pedestrian Deck is built in a circular shape with a diameter of approximately 118 metres and a width of around 12 metres, allowing for connected and efficient user mobility. “We know that climbing stairs is quite difficult for persons with disabilities. So now the closest solution is the use of full escalators, so people will be more comfortable going up, and for wheelchair users, there are also escalators,” Agus said. “Then, on the deck itself, there will also be tactile guiding blocks as a commitment to disability access,” he added. Meanwhile, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government officially laid the first stone for the circular Pedestrian Deck, located in Setiabudi, South Jakarta, on Sunday, 21 June. The provincial government is targeting the facility, which connects various public transport modes including the MRT Jakarta, LRT Jakarta, LRT Jabodetabek, KRL, Transjakarta, and the airport train, to be completed by 2028.
