MRT Jakarta Explains Reasons for Appointing DKI Secretary Uus Kuswanto as Commissioner

The Head of the Corporate Secretary Division of PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda), Rendy Primartantyo, has provided an explanation regarding the appointment of the Secretary of the DKI Jakarta Regional Government (Sekda), Uus Kuswanto, as a commissioner of PT MRT Jakarta.

“The appointment has gone through the applicable mechanisms and provisions in accordance with the decision of the shareholders,” said Rendy in a press release confirmed by Kompas.com on Monday (6/3/2026).

The regulations in question are the Limited Liability Company Law, Government Regulation Number 54 of 2017 on Regional-Owned Enterprises (BUMD), and DKI Jakarta Governor Regulation Number 50 of 2018, which allow candidates from government agency employees as long as they meet the applicable provisions.

“From the perspective of experience, his capabilities as the Secretary of the DKI Jakarta Province are considered highly relevant to strengthen the strategic oversight function,” Rendy explained.

Primarily in aspects of public policy synergy, transportation development, and integration with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government programmes.

Meanwhile, regarding the position of Sekda currently still held by Uus Kuswanto, the implementation of duties as a commissioner still refers to the provisions of applicable laws and regulations.

“Including principles of professionalism and avoidance of conflicts of interest,” said Rendy.

In addition to Uus, the commissioner positions at MRT Jakarta are also held by Deni Surjantoro and Ahmad Yani.

In the same decision, MRT Jakarta has dismissed Dodik Wijanarko from the independent commissioner position.

The independent commissioner position is now held by Sudarmanto. Meanwhile, the main commissioner position is occupied by Heru Budi Hartono.
