PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) has engaged 24 elderly volunteers as station staff for the Lansia #PastiBisa Berkarya programme, held to mark the 2026 National Elderly Day (HLUN). ‘We also extend special appreciation to the elderly staff who remain dedicated to maintaining public services,’ said Mega Tarigan, Director of Operations and Maintenance at PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda), in Jakarta on Friday. Mega stated that through the National Elderly Day occasion, the company thanked all customers for actively contributing to building Jakarta alongside MRT Jakarta. She added that customer and staff support inspires the company to consistently deliver safe, comfortable, and inclusive transport services. The Elderly Staff Programme began in 2025 as part of efforts to build a friendly public transport service and empower all societal layers. For seven days from 29 May to 5 June 2026, elderly volunteers are stationed at high-traffic stations including Lebak Bulus Bank Syariah Indonesia, Blok M BCA, Istora Mandiri, Dukuh Atas BNI, and Bundaran HI Bank Jakarta. ‘They are tasked with educating passengers on public transport discipline, such as queuing behind yellow lines, allowing alighting passengers to exit first, refraining from eating and drinking in paid areas, and assisting those needing information,’ she said. MRT Jakarta considers the programme proof that elderly individuals can actively contribute to public spaces when given adequate opportunities and support.
