PT MRT Jakarta is continuing to develop Transit Oriented Development (TOD) areas as an effort to encourage public mobility, economic growth, and sustainable urban development in DKI Jakarta through the integration of public transport, housing, offices, and commercial activities. “MRT is a driver of urban mobility, encouraging transit-oriented development that boosts the urban economy and builds sustainable transport areas,” said Agus Trihan, Program Management Office Division of PT MRT, accompanied by TOD Planning Department Head Sagita Devi, in Jakarta on Wednesday. He stated that MRT provides a safe, comfortable, and punctual public transport mode to encourage Jakarta residents to use public transport. The company is also continuously collaborating to develop comfortable infrastructure and improve the ease for Jakarta residents to walk to access public transport. Furthermore, it is developing and enhancing quality third spaces around stations as social spaces that support the pulse of urban life. “All of this aims to drive economic growth,” he said. He explained that the strategic focus of TOD is pedestrian connectivity by seamlessly integrating stations and buildings. This is followed by developing parking systems along with their operations and maintenance, as well as integrating commercial, residential, and public space functions within one area. In addition, the company is focused on maximising the value and utilisation of assets around transit areas. “We are also striving to maximise commercial potential to create self-sustained infrastructure,” he said.
