MRT Jakarta and KAI Prepare Integration of Monas and Gambir Stations

PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) is coordinating with PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI to prepare the integration between the MRT Monas Station and KAI Gambir Station, aiming to improve intermodal transport connectivity in DKI Jakarta. The integration plan is designed to connect the MRT Monas Station on the west side with Gambir Station on the east side of the National Monument area, aligning with the ongoing revitalisation process of Gambir Station. “We have met with KAI management to prepare the planning for the connection from Monas Station to Gambir Station. The connection design is still in the development stage,” said MRT Jakarta Director of Construction Weni Maulina in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday. Beyond finalising the physical connectivity design, MRT Jakarta is also preparing an operational governance scheme for the stations along this corridor. The maintenance of Monas Station and Thamrin Station will be managed directly by PT MRT Jakarta under the coordination of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency to ensure the reliability of public facilities. PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) is targeting the Monas Station and Thamrin Station, part of the Phase 2A CP 201 work package, to be completed and fully operational by the end of 2027. She stated that the current physical construction progress for CP 201, which connects the Bundaran HI area to Monas, has reached 92 to 93 percent. “For CP 201, we are now at 92 heading towards 93 percent. God willing, we will finish by the end of 2027 and it will be operational by the end of 2027,” she said. She explained that current work is focused on completing the station interiors, including mechanical-electrical installations, architectural elements, and the final finishing stages. Regarding the work amidst global economic dynamics and the weakening of the rupiah exchange rate, Weni confirmed that the budget ceiling for the CP 201 project, with an estimated value of Rp4.1 trillion, remains intact and in accordance with the initial contract value.
