MRT Harmoni Targeted to Operate in 2027, Kota Tua Completed by 2029
JAKARTA - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the MRT Jakarta Phase 2A route from Bundaran HI to Kota is targeted to begin operations up to Harmoni by the end of 2027. Meanwhile, the line extending to Kota Tua is targeted to be completed by the end of 2029. Pramono conveyed this after accompanying Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Gibran Rakabuming Raka in inspecting the Phase 2A MRT construction on Tuesday (12/5/2026). Pramono explained that construction will continue to the Kota Tua area after the line reaches Harmoni and begins operating. According to him, once all construction is completed, the main North-South MRT line spanning 22.2 kilometres will be fully connected in 2029. On that occasion, Pramono also reported that the progress of Phase 2A MRT construction currently stands at 59.7 per cent. He and Gibran directly inspected the construction in the Sawah Besar, Harmoni, and Duta Merlin areas. In addition to the North-South MRT, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is also continuing the East-West MRT project. Currently, the project is still in the land acquisition stage, route determination, and construction site selection. “The DKI Jakarta Government is now continuing progress on the East-West MRT. In several segments, land acquisition is underway, route determination, site selection, and so on,” Pramono stated. “Hopefully, if this runs smoothly, the first segment can be enjoyed in 2030 for East-West,” he added.
