MRT Bundaran HI Multifunction Space to Connect Plaza Indonesia and Kempinski
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The multifunctional space (extended concourse) at Bundaran HI MRT Station will connect Plaza Indonesia to Hotel Indonesia Kempinski to improve access for users.
“The multi-interconnection will in future provide connections to the Hotel Indonesia Kempinski area, then Grand Indonesia, and also Mandarin,” said Yulham Ferdiansyah Roestam, President Director of PT Integrasi Transit Jakarta, during an inspection of the multifunctional space at Bundaran HI MRT Station in Jakarta on Wednesday.
He said the multifunctional space will feature two access points: Muara 1, connecting to the western side (Plaza Indonesia and in front of the Hyatt Hotel), and Muara 2, connecting to the eastern side (Pullman Hotel and Wisma Nusantara).
The multi-interconnection space is approximately 300 metres long, with a total area of 4,200 square metres.
The company is also preparing a knockdown panel project (pre-demolished walls) for future connections to Hotel Indonesia Kempinski, Grand Indonesia, and Mandarin Oriental. However, the design for these connections is still being finalised together with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.
“For Kempinski and Mandarin, the future connection design is currently in the finalisation stage. But our current focus is on providing the new access points in the western area, in front of the Hyatt, and in the eastern area, in front of the Pullman,” Yulham explained.
The multifunctional space at Bundaran HI MRT Station is a free-of-charge public area (non-tapping area) designed as a multifunctional space for event activations, with a capacity of around 3,200 people.
PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) said construction of the multifunctional space has now reached 22 per cent completion.
The project is expected to become a new zone that further enlivens the transit-oriented development (TOD) area around Bundaran HI.
In addition, the project is expected to improve comfort for public transport users while strengthening connectivity in Jakarta’s central business district.
The project, led by PT Integrasi Transit Jakarta and valued at Rp148.2 billion, is targeted for completion in June 2027, coinciding with the 500th anniversary of the city of Jakarta.
Bundaran HI Station, which reaches a depth of 18 metres below ground level, is one of the busiest stations on Phase 1 of the north-south line, with an average of around 450,000 to 500,000 customers each month.
That figure is predicted to continue rising once Phase 2A of the north-south line, Segment 1 (Bundaran HI to Monas), begins operating in 2027.
The construction of the multifunctional space and new entrance is also part of operational preparations for Phase 2A, Segment 2 through to Kota, which is targeted for 2029.
