Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung targets the MRT Jakarta Phase 2A project on the Bundaran HI-Kota Tua route to be completed and fully operational by the end of 2029.

This line will complement the main north-south MRT connectivity from Lebak Bulus to Kota, spanning 22.2 kilometres.

Pramono stated that operations for MRT Phase 2A will proceed in stages. The Bundaran HI-Harmoni segment is targeted to begin operations first by the end of 2027, before construction continues to the Kota Tua area.

“Operations up to Harmoni will take place at the latest by the end of 2027. Meanwhile, up to Kota, or what we call Kota Tua, is planned for the end of 2029,” said Pramono at Jakarta City Hall on Tuesday (12/5/2026).

According to Pramono, once the entire project is finished, the main north-south MRT line will be fully connected from south to north Jakarta.

“Thus, when this is completed, the main route from north to south spanning 22.2 kilometres will be entirely finished in 2029,” he said.

The MRT Jakarta Phase 2A will have seven new underground stations, namely:

On that occasion, Pramono also revealed that the construction progress of MRT Phase 2A has currently reached 59.7 per cent.

“Overall, the progress is now at 59.7 per cent,” he stated.

Currently, the project is still in the land acquisition phase, route determination, and construction site selection.

“The DKI Jakarta Government is now continuing progress on the East-West MRT. In some segments, land acquisition, route determination, site points, and so on are underway,” Pramono explained.

He hopes that the first segment of the East-West MRT can be used by the public in 2030.

“Hopefully, if this runs smoothly, the first segment can be enjoyed in 2030 for East-West,” said Pramono.
