MQ Iswara Says Kodam III Siliwangi Has Become Part of West Java's People
BANDUNG — West Java. West Java DPRD Deputy Speaker MQ Iswara said Kodam III Siliwangi is not merely a military institution in West Java and Banten; its presence has become woven into the fabric of society, especially in West Java. He said after attending the 80th anniversary of Kodam III Siliwangi at Graha Manggala Siliwangi, Bandung, on Friday night, 22 May 2026, that for people in West Java, Kodam III Siliwangi is not just a military institution. It has indeed become one with the community, and its historical record confirms this. “For us, the people of West Java, Kodam III Siliwangi is not just a military institution. It has become one with us, with the people and even historically, we know that,” he said. He noted the slogan or motto of Kodam III Siliwangi is that “the people of West Java are Siliwangi and, conversely, Siliwangi is the people of West Java.” To him, this is not merely a slogan. “In daily life, Siliwangi is always present. Both through the institution, its command, and its soldiers, they are always present among the community,” he said. He emphasised that the people and Kodam III Siliwangi have merged and are in the hearts of the people. Meanwhile, Pangdam III Siliwangi Major General Kosasih, in his address, said the 80th anniversary of Kodam III Siliwangi provided a moment to reflect on the journey of a territorial unit born from the struggle of the people. He said the 80th anniversary was conducted under the theme “Manunggal with the People, Serving for a United, Prosperous and Progressive Indonesia” and was carried out simply as a form of efficiency and empathy. “The commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Kodam III Siliwangi is an important moment for us to reflect on the long journey as a territorial unit that was born and grew with the people and continues to be present for the people’s interests,” he said. He added that his side continues to strive to be a professional, responsive, humane institution loved by the people. Soldiers must be able to provide a sense of security and be useful to the people. “May we all become tougher and loved by the people, and become the pride of the people of West Java and Indonesia,” he said.
