Bandung’s tourist attractions are constantly evolving. The latest addition is the revitalised Cimanggu hot spring area in Ciwidey, now rebranded as Jiwanta Thermal Springs Wellness Sanctuary — a modern wellness destination blending mountainous natural warmth with contemporary relaxation facilities.

Located in the cool Rancabali area of Bandung Regency, Jiwanta is projected to become a new tourism magnet for West Java, particularly for out-of-town visitors and locals seeking healing destinations during weekends and long holidays.

With the tagline ‘Healing Starts Here’, Jiwanta Thermal Springs offers more than just hot spring bathing; it provides an integrated relaxation experience amid Ciwidey’s pristine natural landscape. The destination was officially opened on Monday, 25 May 2026.

Support for the eco-friendly tourism development in Ciwidey comes from the West Java Regional House of Representatives (DPRD Jabar). Deputy Speaker MQ Iswara stated that the revitalisation of the Cimanggu area into Jiwanta is a positive step to strengthen West Java’s tourism sector.

‘We welcome Jiwanta’s development as it is highly environmentally friendly. No trees were cut down and the forest area remains preserved. This is crucial as West Java needs more tourist sites that maintain ecological balance,’ Iswara said.

Iswara noted that South Bandung has tremendous tourism potential requiring adequate infrastructure to improve visitor access. ‘Ciwidey, Pangalengan, and South Garut hold significant potential. The key is strengthening infrastructure so tourists aren’t hindered during long weekends. As tourism grows, the local economy will benefit,’ he added.

Facility and Concept Upgrades

Muhammad Ashram Shahrivar, representing Jiwanta Thermal Springs, said the company carried out a major restoration of the Cimanggu tourist area, which was previously well-known but required updated facilities and concepts to meet modern tourist needs.

‘We undertook a complete renovation of Cimanggu, where previously aspects such as pools, facilities, restaurants, parking areas, and changing rooms were not up to standard for tourists. Now we present a new, more comfortable and modern face,’ Ashram said.

He explained the upgrades were made to address the high tourist potential in South Bandung, particularly Ciwidey, during weekends and national holidays. Ashram believes the area needs a new destination capable of offering a unique experience for both domestic and international visitors.

‘We see enormous potential in Ciwidey’s visitor numbers, especially during long weekends and Eid holidays. That’s why we wanted to introduce something new for tourists from West Java and beyond. The concept is designed to be better, fresher, and more comfortable for families and groups,’ he said.
