MP's Joke: Does NasDem Want to Merge with Gerindra?

JAKARTA - The Chairman of DPR RI Commission XIII, Willy Aditya, jested that the NasDem Party and the Gerindra Party would merge or join together. This moment occurred during the session for members of the House to provide responses to the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP) in the Commission XIII DPR meeting at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, on Monday (13/4/2026). Suddenly, Willy, who is also a member of the NasDem Faction, threw out a joke about the possibility of NasDem and Gerindra merging. “Shall we continue to Gerindra or NasDem first? Or do you want NasDem to merge with Gerindra?” Willy joked during the meeting. Afterwards, he then invited Muslim Ayub to give his response first. “Because you’re sitting next to each other, that empty seat is bridging, Sir. Please go ahead,” said Willy. “Continue to the next one, responding from Gondangdia to Brawijaya. Eh, from Gondangdia to Kertanegara,” he quipped. Apart from the joke in that people’s representatives’ meeting room, Gondangdia is a neighbourhood area in the Menteng sub-district, Central Jakarta, where the NasDem headquarters is located, precisely on Jl RP Soeroso. Kertanegara is often a nickname for the street name in the South Jakarta area, the address of one of the residences of the General Chairman of the Gerindra Party as well as the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, namely at Jl Kertanegara Number 4, Kebayoran Baru.
