MPR's Response to SMAN 1 Pontianak Rejecting LCC 4 Pillars Rematch Final

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Chairman of the MPR RI Socialisation Agency Abraham Liyanto has responded to SMAN 1 Pontianak’s rejection of participating in the rescheduled final of the 4 Pillars Quiz Competition (LCC) at the West Kalimantan provincial level for 2026.

Abraham explained that the representatives from SMAN 1 Pontianak had directly conveyed their rejection to the MPR that morning.

“This morning at 08.00, MPR leaders represented by Mr Hidayat Nur Wahid, Mr Edy Soeparno, myself, and the Secretary General, along with the staff, met and received a visit from the principal and deputy principal of SMAN 1 Pontianak, Ms Indang and Mr Eko, in Nusantara V Room at the MPR RI office,” Abraham told Kompas.com on Thursday night (14/5/2026).

Abraham stated that the MPR has chosen to respect the rejection from SMAN 1 Pontianak.

So, will the LCC 4 Pillars final organised by the MPR still proceed with the rescheduling after SMAN 1 Pontianak’s refusal?

Abraham said that MPR leaders will first discuss before making a decision next week.

“Coincidentally, the MPR leaders have a joint meeting agenda on Monday, 18 May. So, we will raise that in the meeting and discussion later,” Abraham added.

Previously, SMAN 1 Pontianak in West Kalimantan (Kalbar) affirmed that it would not be involved in the rescheduling of the 4 Pillars Quiz Competition (LCC) at the West Kalimantan provincial level for 2026.

That statement was conveyed by the school through an official stance signed by the Principal of SMAN 1 Pontianak, Indang Maryati, on Thursday (14/5/2026), following the dynamics and polemics that occurred in the implementation of the LCC 4 Pillars final.

The school stated that the efforts were solely to obtain confirmation and clarification for the creation of a transparent, objective, and accountable competition mechanism.

“SMAN 1 Pontianak has no intention of annulling the competition results, but only to obtain clarity on the points in question,” wrote Indang.

SMAN 1 Pontianak also expressed respect for the competition results that have been determined and provided full support to SMAN 1 Sambas as the representative of West Kalimantan in the national-level LCC 4 Pillars event.

In its statement of stance, SMAN 1 Pontianak also conveyed an apology for the commotion that occurred and invited all parties to resolve the issue with a spirit of togetherness and mutual respect.
