Natuna, Riau Islands (ANTARA) - The People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR RI) has called upon students of the Integrated People’s School (SRT) 32 Natuna, Riau Islands Province, to utilise all available educational facilities to study and achieve their ambitions.

Speaking in Natuna on Wednesday, the Speaker of the MPR RI, Ahmad Muzani, stated that the People’s School was established by the government to expand educational access for children from low-income families, while simultaneously improving the quality of human resources and breaking the cycle of poverty.

At SRT 32 Natuna, all student needs are met, including clothing, food, drink, personal hygiene supplies, accommodation, and teaching materials. Students are only required to study diligently.

Muzani was accompanied by the Natuna Regency Government during his visit to SRT 32 Natuna.

The visit was conducted to directly inspect the conditions and available facilities, as well as to discuss various efforts to develop educational infrastructure to support the improvement of human resource quality and the character building of the younger generation.

“Our message is to study earnestly. These sufficiently grand, good, and representative facilities must be utilised well,” he said.

He explained that the People’s School represents a future investment. Through this school, the government aims to create a high-quality generation, thereby eliminating inequality.

Muzani noted that SRT 32 Natuna has been operational since 2025 and comprises two cohorts with no fewer than 180 students. The facility provides all educational levels, including primary, junior high, and senior high school.

He emphasised that the presence of the People’s School demonstrates President Prabowo Subianto’s seriousness in eradicating poverty, as the students are children from the lowest welfare backgrounds. Consequently, he expressed his gratitude for the programme.

“Our hope is that this school provides experience and prepares high-quality human resources for the future,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Natuna Regency Social Affairs Office, Puryanti, stated that SRT 32 Natuna currently utilises the Natuna Hajj Dormitory building as a location for teaching and learning activities, as well as a residence for students.

According to her, the Natuna Hajj Dormitory building, located in East Bunguran District, has been deemed suitable by the central government for use as a temporary facility while the construction of a new building is underway.

Puryanti explained that the building has been modified and adapted to meet the needs of the SRT, including being converted into classrooms and supporting facilities for teaching and learning activities.

“The new building is scheduled to be constructed this year. The Natuna Regency Government has also donated the land for the construction of the building,” she said.
