The People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) of the Republic of Indonesia has decided to hold a rerun of the final round of the Four Pillars Quiz Competition (LCC) 2026 at the West Kalimantan (Kalbar) provincial level following the polemic over judging errors. MPR Chairman Ahmad Muzani stated that the rerun will be held soon with changes to the jury panel. The judges for the rerun will be drawn from independent circles such as academics. “The final-level LCC in West Kalimantan will be rerun by us… MPR leadership will directly oversee the running of the competition from start to finish,” said Muzani during a press conference at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday. The MPR acknowledges the oversight in organising the final round in Pontianak on Saturday (9/5). Therefore, this step is taken as a correction for the error that has recently become widely discussed on social media. Muzani further stated that his side is committed to continuously evaluating improvements to future MPR activities by listening to public opinions. “We express our thanks and appreciation to the competition participants who exercised their right to express opinions, freedom of speech, and to voice protests over their dissatisfaction, and we hear that as a way to train them to become good examples of democracy,” he said. Meanwhile, MPR Secretary General Siti Fauziah stated that the previous jury panel has been deactivated from the 2026 MPR Four Pillars LCC activities. This is a sanction for the polemic over judging errors in the West Kalimantan final round. “Regarding the date, we will coordinate first because it’s a rerun competition, everything must be like the previous one, so there must be a stage, and so on. We will coordinate the readiness; if possible, this week, so that it can be resolved quickly,” she said. Previously, three senior high schools (SMA) competed in the final round of the MPR Four Pillars LCC at the West Kalimantan provincial level in Pontianak, namely SMA Negeri 1 Pontianak, SMA Negeri 1 Sambas, and SMA Negeri 1 Sanggau. The competition became widely discussed on social media due to a judging error during the buzzer question session. Participants had raised objections to the jury’s judgement. However, the response from the jury members, namely the Head of the Assessment Bureau of the MPR Secretariat General Dyastasita W.B. and the Head of the Secretariat Section of the MPR Socialisation Agency Indri Wahyuni, was highlighted by netizens.
