MPR Speaker Says Habib Umar’s Preaching Strengthens National Unity

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia (MPR RI), Ahmad Muzani, said that the preaching delivered by Habib Umar bin Hafidz makes the assembly’s task of safeguarding national unity easier, as it conveys messages that bring the community together.

“There is so much in the preaching of His Eminence Habib Umar that is truly a truth for the good of the world. Those views have become an energy for our lives,” Muzani said when he received Habib Umar in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Muzani explained that the MPR RI is tasked with strengthening the position of the state, safeguarding the Pancasila state ideology, and amending and establishing the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia.

Habib Umar also often reminds Muslims to uphold ukhuwah Islamiyah, or brotherhood among Muslims. Muzani said this message offers a gentle approach to preventing more serious problems from arising in society.

“For us in Indonesia, that kind of thing actually strengthens us in our civic life,” he said.

“This makes it easier for Indonesia’s leaders to work to safeguard the unity of the community, which we have maintained for more than 80 years,” Muzani said.
