MPR Speaker Delivers Iranian Government's Invitation to President Prabowo
The Iranian government hopes to invite the President of the Republic of Indonesia to visit Tehran, according to the Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), Ahmad Muzani. Muzani stated that the invitation was conveyed by the Iranian government whilst he attended the funeral of former Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Mashhad, Iran. “The Iranian government hopes to invite the President of the Republic of Indonesia to visit Tehran,” Muzani said following a meeting with the Supreme Court in Jakarta on Tuesday. However, he did not yet know President Prabowo’s response to the invitation. “The invitation has been delivered to Mr Prabowo,” he said. On Thursday (9/7), the MPR Speaker and Foreign Minister Sugiono departed for Mashhad as envoys of President Prabowo Subianto to attend the funeral of former Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. “Doctor Mohammad Ghalibaf conveyed warm greetings to all the people and the nation of Indonesia, as well as the Government of the Republic of Indonesia,” he said. Additionally, Muzani, who travelled as a representative of the Indonesian government and people, also expressed deep condolences from the people and nation of Indonesia over the passing of a leader deeply loved by the Iranian people. “We offer our condolences on this matter; we feel how the Iranian people are saddened by the death of their deeply beloved leader. The Indonesian people pray that the Iranian people may remain steadfast in facing this calamity,” he said.
