MPR Speaker Ahmad Muzani: Pancasila Is the Nation's Greatest Common Ground
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly Ahmad Muzani delivered the opening address for the 2026 MPR Annual Session at the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Friday (14/8/2026). In his speech, Muzani again reminded the nation of the importance of Pancasila.
“As the foundation of the state, Pancasila is the greatest common ground our nation has ever achieved,” he said.
According to Muzani, Pancasila was not born in a vacuum. It grew out of the history, culture, religion and wisdom living within Indonesian society.
“It was formulated through debate, reflection, and the willingness to find a path acceptable to all groups,” Muzani said.
The Gerindra Party politician said Pancasila has repeatedly faced tests throughout history. Indonesia has confronted political upheaval, ideological conflict, intergroup tension, economic crisis, communal violence, the threat of separatism, terrorism and even a pandemic.
“Yet every time this nation returns to Pancasila as its common ground, we find great energy and a way to rise together,” Muzani said.
