MPR Secretariat-General Aims to Boost Public Trust Through Information Transparency
The Secretariat-General of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR RI), in collaboration with Bina Bangsa University’s Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, held a Public Consultation Forum (FKP) in Tangerang on Thursday. The event, themed ‘Enhancing Public Trust Through Information Transparency and Institutional Strengthening’, served as a platform for dialogue between state institutions, academics, media practitioners, and the public to improve the quality of public services within the MPR RI.
In his opening remarks, Head of the Bureau of Human Resources, Organisation, and Law at MPR RI, Agus Subagyo, stated that public trust is a vital social asset for state institutions as it is closely linked to strengthening institutional legitimacy. He noted that while the MPR RI received a relatively positive rating in a public trust survey released by Indonesian Political Indicators in January 2026, such achievements should serve as a reminder to continuously maintain and enhance service quality.
‘Trust is something very fragile. Building it takes a long time, but it can be lost due to one small mistake. Therefore, public trust must be built on a strong foundation,’ Agus said. He stressed that enhancing public trust requires more than just communication or ceremonial activities; it must be realised through consistent, high-quality service and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Agus further highlighted that information transparency and institutional strengthening are two critical aspects that must be developed. This aligns with the mandate of Law Number 25 of 2009 on Public Services, which stipulates that services must be of high quality, fast, easy, affordable, measurable, and accountable.
Head of the Sub-division for Inter-Institutional Relations at MPR RI, Susan Andriyani, explained that the forum was designed to gather feedback on the service standards managed by the Bureau of Public Relations and Information Systems. She noted that the input collected would be used to evaluate and improve the quality of future public services.
The forum featured three expert speakers: Head of the Bureau of Public Relations and Information Systems at MPR RI, Budi Muliawan; Technical Policy Analyst from the Ministry of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (KemenPAN-RB), Rizky Dwiputra Restavie B; and First Policy Analyst from KemenPAN-RB, Dian Ayu Puspitasari. The session was moderated by Indra Ardianto, Head of the Sub-division for Inter-Institutional Relations at MPR RI.
Through this public consultation, the MPR Secretariat-General hopes to gather constructive input from stakeholders to refine public service standards. The initiative is part of an ongoing effort to build a culture of continuous improvement and strengthen public trust in state institutions.
