MPR Secretariat Conducts Comprehensive Evaluation of Four Pillars Quiz Competition Following Controversy in West Kalimantan

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The MPR RI General Secretariat has confirmed a comprehensive evaluation of the implementation of the 2026 Four Pillars MPR RI Quiz Competition, following a scoring error in the provincial final round in West Kalimantan.

In a statement received by ANTARA in Jakarta on Monday, the MPR RI General Secretariat respects the attention and input from the public regarding the controversy over the competition’s judging, which has recently been widely discussed on social media.

“Regarding the buzz on social media about the 2026 Four Pillars Quiz Competition at the West Kalimantan provincial level concerning the judging of a participant’s answer in one of the competition sessions, the organising committee from the MPR RI General Secretariat is currently conducting an internal investigation,” the statement read.

The MPR understands that youth education and development activities, including the Four Pillars Quiz, must uphold values of sportsmanship, objectivity, fairness, and a constructive learning spirit.

Therefore, the MPR will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the technical aspects of the competition, including the scoring mechanism, clarity of answer articulation, participant answer verification system, and objection management in the competition.

“So that similar activities in the future can be carried out even better, transparently, and accountably.”

In addition, the MPR appreciates all participants, accompanying teachers, judging panel, local committee, and the public who have paid attention to national education and the Four Pillars Quiz event.

The MPR is committed to using public input as important evaluation material to maintain the quality of activities and public trust in the inclusive, educational, and integrity-driven national learning process.

Concluding its statement, the MPR RI General Secretariat urged all parties to maintain a conducive atmosphere and respect all student participants.

Previously, three senior high schools (SMA) competed in the final round of the MPR RI Four Pillars Quiz Competition at the West Kalimantan provincial level in Pontianak, namely SMA Negeri 1 Pontianak, SMA Negeri 1 Sambas, and SMA Negeri 1 Sanggau.

Recently, the competition has been widely discussed on social media due to a judging error during the buzzer question session. Netizens have highlighted the judging panel’s response to the participants’ objections.

As witnessed from the competition video aired on the MPRGOID YouTube page, the judging error stemmed from the question: “In selecting BPK members, the DPR is required to consider input from which institution?”

Team C from SMAN 1 Pontianak answered, “Members of the Financial Audit Board are selected by the House of Representatives by considering input from the Regional Representative Council and inaugurated by the President.”

The judges then deducted five points for Team C’s answer. The same question was then posed to another team.

Team B from SMAN 2 Sambas then answered, “Members of the Financial Audit Board are selected by the House of Representatives by considering input from the Regional Representative Council and inaugurated by the President.”

The judges then stated that Team B’s answer was correct. “Yes, the essence of the answer is correct. Score of ten,” said the judging panel, Head of the Assessment Bureau of the MPR RI General Secretariat, Dyastasita W.B.

Team C then lodged an objection to the judging panel’s decision. “Judging panel, permission, earlier we answered the same as Team B. The same,” said the team representative.

In response, Dyastasita said, “Earlier for Team C, yes, the consideration from the DPD was not mentioned. It was just the DPR.”

“There was,” replied the student from Team C.

“Earlier I said it like this: members of the Financial Audit Board are selected by the House of Representatives by considering input from the Regional Representative Council and inaugurated by the President,” she continued, repeating the previous answer.

“The judging panel thought there was no Regional Representative Council mentioned,” Dyastasita interjected.

“Sir, sorry, could we perhaps look at the views from others too? Maybe from the audience, did anyone hear me say DPD?” the Team C student replied again.

“I think the decision is with the judging panel,” Dyastasita said.

Before the host continued the competition to the next question, another judge, Head of the Secretariat Section of the MPR RI Socialisation Board, Indri Wahyuni, provided additional response.

“Like this, right, it was warned from the beginning, articulation is important. So, get used to answering with clear articulation. If you think it’s clear, but the judging panel assesses that it’s not, because they didn’t hear your articulation clearly, that means the judging panel has the right to give a minus five score,” said Indri.
