LKBB-PB is not merely a competition but a platform to instil national values in the younger generation. Heri Herawan, Deputy for Administration at the MPR RI Secretary General’s Office, officially opened the MPR RI’s Banten Provincial LKBB-PB 2026 event at Tangerang Selatan City Hall Square in Banten on Saturday. The event, organised by MPR RI in collaboration with Purna Paskibraka Indonesia (PPI), involved 10 senior high schools and equivalent institutions from across Banten Province’s regencies and cities. “LKBB-PB is not merely a competition but a platform to instil national values in the younger generation,” said Heri Herawan. He explained the competition serves as character-building through drill and flag-raising skills assessed by a panel of judges from the military and PPI. The participating schools were SMKN 9 Tangerang City, MAN 1 Lebak Regency, SMAN 1 Jawilan Serang Regency, MAN 1 Cilegon City, SMAN 2 Krakatau Steel Cilegon City, SMAN 2 Serang City, SMAN 2 Tangerang Selatan City, SMK Ikhlas Jawilan Serang Regency, SMKN 5 Tangerang Regency, and SMAN 2 Pandeglang Regency. Participants competed for the provincial title while showcasing their best drill and flag-raising skills before judges from the military and PPI. “Gotong royong is not merely a social custom but a philosophical principle that defines the nation’s political character, promoting mutual assistance, strengthening one another, and complementing each other beyond ethnic, religious, racial, or group boundaries,” he said. He explained that the spirit of gotong royong is evident in every drill movement. When team members maintain synchronized steps, adjust rhythm collectively, and uphold formations together, the spirit of unity and togetherness is realised in tangible action. Furthermore, Heri highlighted the profound meaning of the red and white flag ceremony. The red symbolises courage, while white represents purity of intent and sincere struggle. “The flag flying at the highest point serves as a collective reminder of the sacrifices made by heroes who defended independence with blood and tears,” Heri said. Meanwhile, Tangerang Selatan Mayor Pilar Saga Ichsan said the LKBB-PB plays a vital role in shaping disciplined, resilient, nationalist youth with unity and love for the homeland. “This event is not merely a competition for drill and flag-raising skills but also a platform for building disciplined, resilient, nationalist youth with unity and love for the nation,” Pilar said. Pilar added that values demonstrated by participants—such as cohesion, precision, leadership, and discipline—are crucial for building a strong, character-driven national future. He expressed pride in participants’ enthusiasm from across Banten Province, from west to east. He said their presence demonstrates strong nationalism and proves Banten’s youth are ready to contribute to Indonesia’s progress. As host, Tangerang Selatan City Government pledged to continue supporting positive youth activities focused on character building and reinforcing national values. “We believe the best investment for the nation’s future lies in nurturing outstanding, disciplined, and patriotic youth,” Pilar said. At the event’s conclusion, participants were reminded to uphold sportsmanship, respect judges and fellow competitors, and treat the competition as a learning opportunity to strengthen camaraderie among Banten’s students.
