MPR RI Emphasises Importance of Practising National Values Among Younger Generation
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Member of the MPR RI, Himmatul Aliyah, has emphasised the importance of practising national values for the younger generation, noting that current understanding of Pancasila and the four national pillars remains low.
Himmatul stated that although the youth are known to be creative, intelligent, and technologically literate, surveys indicate that only about 28.6 per cent of students understand Pancasila through classroom learning, while the majority obtain information via social media.
“We must revive the spirit of nationalism, particularly for the youth of Jakarta who are growing up in the digital era,” she said in an official statement in Jakarta on Monday.
She noted the emergence of a phenomenon where a large portion of Gen Z is beginning to doubt the relevance of Pancasila values amidst the heavy influx of globalisation, individualism, and digital information.
Consequently, participants were encouraged to understand the implementation of the MPR RI’s four pillars through the practice of discipline and cooperation in marching drills. These pillars include Pancasila as the national ideology, the 1945 Constitution as the state constitution, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI), and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity) as the symbol of unity in diversity.
“These values are reflected in the cohesion, discipline, and harmony of the participants’ movements during the competition. NKRI is the ultimate goal. Despite coming from different schools, we all defend one flag, the Merah Putih,” said Himmatul.
The Deputy Chairperson of Commission X of the DPR RI also reminded that Jakarta is a global city and a miniature of Indonesia, meaning it carries a significant responsibility to serve as a role model for practising national values for the entire territory of the NKRI.
“Let every drop of sweat today serve as proof that Jakarta’s younger generation is a generation that is loyal to the nation, adaptive to change, and collaborative in their work,” she added.
She expressed hope that the activity could strengthen the spirit of brotherhood, nationalism, and the commitment of the younger generation towards the integrity of the NKRI in pursuit of ‘Indonesia Emas 2045’ (Golden Indonesia 2045).
The LKBB competition was organised by the MPR RI alongside the Purna Paskibraka Indonesia (PPI) of the DKI Jakarta Province, aiming to strengthen national spirit and the practice of the MPR RI’s Four Pillars among the youth.
