MPR Proposes Rp 972 Billion Budget Increase for Aspiration Forums and Socialisation
The People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) of the Republic of Indonesia has proposed an additional budget of Rp 972 billion for 2027. The funds will be used for national aspiration forums and the socialisation of the four pillars. This was conveyed by Acting Secretary General of the MPR, Siti Fauziah, during a hearing with House Commission XIII at the parliament building in Jakarta on Monday (15/6/2026). The MPR received an indicative budget ceiling for 2027 amounting to Rp 945,577,879,000 (Rp 945 billion).
"The MPR obtained an indicative ceiling in 2027 of Rp 945,577,879,000, with an allocation for the legislative institution and its apparatus programme of Rp 556,117,220,000 and a management support programme of Rp 379,440,659,000," Siti stated during the meeting. Her office proposed the additional budget of Rp 972 billion to House Commission XIII. She noted that Rp 50 billion would be allocated for the MPR leadership’s national aspiration forum.
"Therefore, the MPR will submit a proposal for an additional budget in 2027 of Rp 972,915,302,000, specifically for the execution of MPR leadership duties amounting to Rp 50,980,105,000, which consists of activities such as the MPR leadership’s national aspiration forum with community organisations and academics held five times, one national gathering, 12 MPR leadership national safaris, and strengthening nationalism among the younger generation," she said.
The additional budget allocation will also be used for the socialisation of the four pillars for all members, including a budget for institutional studies. "Furthermore, the additional allocation is for implementing the socialisation of the four pillars with a proposed increase of Rp 362,793,412,000, intended for socialisation activities for all members held seven times, because with the existing budget only five sessions can be conducted. Then, socialisation of the four pillars by the MPR leadership and its apparatus," Siti explained.
"The additional funds are also intended for institutional studies amounting to Rp 111 billion, designated for absorbing public aspirations for all members three times, as this is not covered in the current budget. Usually, there is one session, but this is not yet funded, so we are requesting an additional three activities for all members," she added. She mentioned the additional budget is also for a national symposium. The MPR has also budgeted Rp 194 billion for carrying out constitutional duties.
"Thus, if the proposed addition for 2027 is approved, the total budget for 2027 will be Rp 1,918,493,000,000 (Rp 1.9 trillion). We are only adding for member activities, while for the management support programme we are not requesting any additional funds at all," she concluded.
