Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Chairman of the MPR RI, Eddy Soeparno, believes that the commitment from President Prabowo Subianto towards workers must become a momentum to enhance the capacity and skills of workers in facing the era of digitalisation, automation, and artificial intelligence.

He said President Prabowo is committed to providing special attention to fulfilling the basic needs of workers throughout Indonesia, particularly in terms of housing and better working conditions, so that Indonesian workers can work more productively in the future.

“We must also utilise the momentum of the government’s affirmation towards Indonesian workers by enhancing the skills of all workers,” said Eddy in a written statement received in Jakarta on Sunday.

The ability of Indonesian workers to understand and proficiently utilise technology, according to him, is a key attraction for quality investments to enter Indonesia.

“Investments in the data centre, semiconductor, and green industries sectors require skilled, educated, and technology-proficient workers, especially as we have entered the AI era,” he said.

The government, he said, certainly cannot guarantee that the various job opportunities available today will remain available in the future. He reminded that the rapidly developing wave of technology will change the map of the job market in the coming years, and Indonesian workers need to be prepared to face it.

“What the government can guarantee at this time is that workers will not be left behind and will always receive attention, particularly towards improving their capabilities and welfare,” he said.
