MPR opens access to PPHN draft to public from Saturday

The People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) has scheduled the publication of the draft of the State Policy Guidelines (PPHN) to the public starting Saturday (29/8) to obtain public input.

MPR Speaker Ahmad Muzani said this was agreed in a leadership meeting with the MPR Assessment Body and the MPR Constitutional Study Commission at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Friday.

“The MPR leadership together with the Assessment Body and the Constitutional Study Commission, which drafted the PPHN, have agreed that starting tomorrow at 4 p.m., the PPHN draft can be accessed by the public,” said Muzani.

According to him, the PPHN draft will be uploaded through the MPR’s official website so that the public can download, read, and provide input and views on the document.

Muzani hopes that people from various backgrounds, including academics and constitutional thinkers, both as organisations and individuals, will contribute their thoughts to refine the PPHN draft.

“We will continue to open ourselves to those views and thoughts. The Assessment Body and the Study Commission will continue to listen, read, and absorb all the aspirations that develop and are conveyed by the public to us,” he said.

Muzani explained that the PPHN is a philosophical foundation of the state that will serve as a guide for national development and be implemented by every presidential leadership period.

Previously, Muzani said the PPHN draft would be opened to the public after 17 August 2026. He considered that the public needs to be involved in every stage of the drafting of the document.

“I will ask the Assessment Body that after 17 August it be opened to the public. I think there is no problem for the public to read it,” said Muzani in Jakarta, Friday (7/8).

“So it would be best if, after it is finished, it is read again by observers of constitutional issues — lecturers, universities, observers, journalists — I think everyone should be involved,” he said.
