MPR mulls forming council of ethics

JAKARTA: The People's Consultative Assembly will discuss this month the possibility of establishing an ad hoc council of ethics to judge ethical violations committed by lawmakers.

Rambe Kamarulzaman, who is in charge of discussing the Assembly's internal regulations, said on Thursday that details of the council would be set out in the Assembly's internal regulations.

According to him, members of the council of ethics would also include intellectuals, community leaders and religious leaders.

Rambe added that lawmakers would study the ethical code of the House of Representatives to avoid inconsistency. - JP
