MPR Members Praise 2026 Annual Session: Orderly and Solemn
Chairman of the Golkar Party faction in the MPR RI, Melchias Marcus Mekeng, has expressed appreciation for the conduct of the 2026 MPR RI Annual Session. The annual event was assessed to have proceeded better, in an orderly, solemn, and structured manner.
Mekeng stated that the implementation of the 2026 MPR RI Annual Session was better compared to previous ones. According to him, this year’s series of events felt more formal and was not filled with activities deemed less relevant to the main agenda of the session.
“This was also demonstrated by President Prabowo, who delivered his speech very well. Everything he conveyed was very important and showcased the performance achievements during his two years in government. There was not much improvisation, but that made it better because this forum is indeed very important,” Mekeng said in his statement on Saturday (15/8/2026).
Regarding the President’s performance report speech, Mekeng assessed that the material delivered by Prabowo illustrated various achievements of the government he has led so far.
“Starting from Danantara, which has delivered significant results. His flagship programmes, from Sekolah Rakyat, MBG, to excellent schools. All of these are needed by the community, and he is consistent with what he has fought for,” he said.
Similarly, MPR RI member from the DPD RI group, Fahira Idris, assessed that this year’s Annual Session proceeded well, in an orderly and solemn manner. The entire series of agendas also ran in a structured way.
Fahira revealed that the atmosphere of the session reflected the importance of the MPR RI Annual Session as a constitutional moment to convey to the people the direction of the nation’s journey and the performance of state institutions.
“I appreciate the preparations made by the Secretariat General of the MPR. All supporting elements worked seriously, so that this agenda ran in a mature, orderly, and solemn manner,” said Fahira.
According to Fahira, the smooth running of the MPR RI Annual Session could not be separated from the support and cooperation of the Secretariat General of the MPR RI, the DPR RI, and the DPD RI. The three synergised in preparing various facilities and infrastructure, from the session room, seating arrangements, protocol, technical systems, security, to services for participants and invited guests.
“Everything appeared to be prepared seriously. For a state agenda as large as the MPR Annual Session, this kind of readiness is very important so that the substance of the session can proceed without being disrupted by technical issues,” she explained.
Fahira also appreciated the performance report of MPR RI Speaker Ahmad Muzani regarding Indonesia’s relationship with Palestine. She assessed that Indonesia’s consistent stance in supporting Palestinian independence is a constitutional mandate as well as part of the history of the Indonesian nation’s struggle, which once experienced the bitterness of colonialism.
Therefore, support for the Palestinian people to live free, sovereign, and dignified, said Fahira, must continue to be Indonesia’s consistent stance.
“I also agree with the message of unity. This message is increasingly relevant as our democracy becomes more open and society has a very wide space to hold differing opinions. Political differences are natural, but they must not turn into hostility that damages national brotherhood. We may be firm in our ideas, but we must remain courteous in our delivery,” she elaborated.
In general, Fahira assessed that MPR RI Speaker Ahmad Muzani’s speech was very strong, reassuring, and relevant to the nation’s current challenges.
According to her, the message delivered not only spoke about unity and Pancasila, but also about the importance of civilised democracy, eradicating corruption, education, fulfilling nutrition, people’s economy, natural resource management, national sovereignty, and world peace.
“The most important thing for me is the common thread of his speech. Indonesia’s progress must remain rooted in Pancasila, justice, unity, and humanity. Ahead of the 81st Anniversary of Indonesian Independence, a message like this is very appropriate to remind us that Indonesia is a shared home. Differences should not be a reason to negate one another, but must become energy to jointly realise a sovereign, just, prosperous, and increasingly strong Indonesia,” she concluded.
