JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) and MPR RI member Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal has criticised the organising committee of the 2026 MPR RI Four Pillars Quiz Competition regarding the controversy over the judging panel’s assessment in the West Kalimantan (Kalbar) provincial final round.

Cucun called on the MPR RI General Secretariat (Setjen) staff to evaluate the judge appointment process to ensure such incidents do not recur.

“Yes, I am addressing that; it must not happen again. Evaluate it at the MPR secretariat; when appointing judges, how can the same answer and value be treated differently?” Cucun stated during a press conference at the DPR RI Building on Tuesday (12/5/2026).

“Basically, we as MPR members are also lodging a protest with the MPR secretariat to appoint proper judges,” Cucun added.

The controversy began during the West Kalimantan level Four Pillars Quiz final held in Pontianak on Saturday (9/5/2026). The event was participated in by nine senior high schools in Kalbar. The three schools advancing to the final round were SMAN 1 Pontianak, SMAN 1 Sambas, and SMAN 1 Sanggau.

The issue emerged during the answer buzz-in session with the question: In selecting BPK members, the DPR is obliged to consider input from which institution?

Team C from SMAN 1 Pontianak was the first participant to answer.

“Members of the Financial Audit Board are selected by the House of Representatives while considering input from the Regional Representative Council and are inaugurated by the President,” said a female student from Team C.

The question was then directed to another team and answered by Team B from SMAN 1 Sambas.

“Members of the Financial Audit Board are selected by the House of Representatives while considering input from the Regional Representative Council and are inaugurated by the President,” answered the Team B participant.

The judge then declared Team B’s answer correct.

“The core of the answer is already correct. Score of ten,” the judge said.
