MPR Leadership Visits BPK, Praises Improvement in Unqualified Opinion Quality

Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Ahmad Muzani visited the leadership of the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) at the BPK Building in Jakarta. The visit was conducted as part of a National Silaturahmi ahead of the MPR Annual Session.

The MPR leadership delegation was received by BPK Chair Isma Yatun and BPK Vice Chair Budi Prijono. The meeting took place in a warm and cordial atmosphere, discussing not only the MPR Annual Session but also governance and accountability in state financial management.

Following the meeting, Muzani stated that the visit also served as an opportunity to extend an invitation to the BPK leadership to attend the MPR Annual Session.

“Alhamdulillah, today the MPR leadership held a silaturahmi with the BPK leadership. We are delighted that the BPK Chair, Vice Chair, and their staff were able to receive us in this national silaturahmi,” said Muzani on Tuesday (11/8/2026).

The MPR Annual Session, he continued, is one of the important moments in the state agenda. In that forum, the BPK is also expected to deliver its annual performance report, which will be read by President Prabowo Subianto before the MPR session.

During the meeting, discussions also touched on the BPK’s role as a state institution with the authority to audit the management and accountability of state finances, including ministries, agencies, and regional governments.

Muzani expressed appreciation for the improving trend in financial management quality, reflected in the growing number of regional governments, provincial governments, regencies and cities, ministries, and agencies receiving Unqualified Opinions (WTP).

“This is certainly welcome news,” said Muzani.

Muzani explained that a WTP opinion indicates that financial reports comply with government accounting standards and that the financial evidence examined is in order. According to Muzani, this achievement serves as an indicator that state financial management has been carried out in accordance with regulations.

Muzani expressed hope that these improvements will continue so that state financial governance becomes increasingly accountable, effective, and efficient.

Meanwhile, BPK Chair Isma Yatun appreciated the MPR leadership’s visit and welcomed the invitation to attend the MPR Annual Session on Friday, 14 August 2026.

“We greatly appreciate the MPR Speaker and Deputy Speakers for conducting this national silaturahmi visit to us. Our greatest hope is for a smooth and successful event on 14 August,” said Isma.

Isma said that during the meeting, the two institutions also discussed the governance and accountability of financial reports of both the central government and regional governments.

Isma noted that recommendations from BPK audit findings need to be followed up by every entity that has received an audit report, so that improvements in state financial management can proceed sustainably.

Isma revealed that the meeting with the MPR leadership took place in a relaxed atmosphere and did not address difficult issues. The silaturahmi was more directed towards discussing matters beneficial to the nation and state.

“We spoke about things that are beneficial for this nation and state,” said Isma.

For context, Muzani was accompanied on this visit by MPR Deputy Speakers Bambang Wuryanto, Rusdi Kirana, Hidayat Nur Wahid (HNW), and Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono. Also present were Deputy for Administration of the MPR Secretariat General Heri Herawan and several echelon II officials within the MPR Secretariat General.
