President Prabowo Subianto held a meeting with the leadership of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday (3/8/2026). Attendees included MPR Speaker Ahmad Muzani of the Gerindra faction, Deputy Speaker Bambang Wuryanto of the PDIP faction, and Deputy Speaker Eddy Soeparno of the PAN faction.

‘The discussion was quite intensive, relaxed, and substantive,’ Muzani stated during a press conference at the Presidential Office.

He explained there were several objectives for the meeting between the MPR leadership and President Prabowo. The first was national fellowship and consultation among state institution leaders. ‘Our arrival today was to extend an invitation to the President of the Republic of Indonesia, as Head of State, to deliver the annual report on the performance of state institutions before the MPR Session,’ Muzani said.

Additionally, the MPR invited the President to attend the Constitution Day commemoration on 18 August and the MPR’s anniversary on 29 August. ‘These two important events will be combined and are planned to be held on 29 August,’ he continued.

Thirdly, Muzani noted that the MPR leadership presented the concept of the Broad Outlines of State Policy (PPHN), which last year was still a draft under discussion by an MPR-formed team. ‘On this occasion, we handed over the concept to the President of the Republic of Indonesia and discussed with him several matters related to the PPHN,’ Muzani said.

When asked about the PPHN, Muzani said President Prabowo deferred to the MPR to make the PPHN a guideline for cross-administration governance. ‘Because the PPHN is not intended only for a temporary government, but rather as a direction for governance that spans various periods,’ Muzani stated. ‘Therefore, the President leaves it to the MPR mechanism to establish the PPHN as a guideline for subsequent presidencies.’
