MPR Leadership Receives UAE Ambassador to Discuss Zero Emissions and Middle East Situation
Deputy Chairman of the MPR Eddy Soeparno received a visit from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador to Indonesia, Abdullah Salem Al Dhaheri, at the parliamentary complex. The meeting discussed several programmes, including zero emissions, up to the situation in the Middle East.
The meeting took place on the 9th floor of the Nusantara III Building, parliamentary complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday (15/4/2026), around 10:00 WIB. Abdullah stated that his side and Indonesia discussed various matters, one of which was the zero emissions programme.
“I spent some time this morning with His Excellency Eddy and his team. We gained a very comprehensive understanding of Indonesia’s programmes in meeting the zero emissions target, as well as their ambitious plans to realise various projects by 2029,” said Abdullah after the meeting.
Abdullah emphasised that his side would support various Indonesian Government programmes. He also believes that several programmes conveyed by Eddy can be implemented in Indonesia.
“As the United Arab Emirates, we have shown our support for those plans, and I believe this is a very achievable plan if Indonesia wishes to advance,” he said.
“We have discussed various ways and means by which the UAE can support these initiatives,” he continued.
Meanwhile, Eddy Soeparno said that together with Abdullah, they also discussed the latest situation in the Middle East. He received information that the situation in the United Arab Emirates is safe up to now.
“Oh yes, earlier His Excellency conveyed that the conditions in the United Arab Emirates are safe. That their defence and security are very good, and life there is running normally. So for us, we are happy that our brothers, especially also our citizens there, are also safe,” he stated.
He also mentioned discussing cooperation with Abdullah regarding the economy. In particular, in the renewable energy sector.
“One of them was conveyed by His Excellency earlier, namely the development of renewable energy, Cirata—which are priority programmes that have been discussed previously and we want to develop further. Because we have very good and close relations, this is certainly a priority cooperation that we need to enhance,” he said.
