The leadership of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) met with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta. MPR Chairman Ahmad Muzani stated that the delegation discussed and formally submitted the concept of the State Policy Guidelines (PPHN) to Prabowo.

‘We submitted the PPHN concept, which last year was still a draft under discussion by a team we formed. On this occasion, we handed the concept over to the President of the Republic of Indonesia and discussed with him several matters relating to the State Policy Guidelines,’ Muzani said during a press conference after the meeting at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Monday (3/8/2026).

Muzani described the meeting with Prabowo as intensive yet conducted in a relaxed atmosphere. ‘Our discussion with the President this afternoon was very good, very productive, intensive, and relaxed,’ he remarked.

He further revealed that Prabowo has deferred the matter of the PPHN to the MPR. According to Muzani, Prabowo expressed his desire for the PPHN to serve as a policy direction for subsequent administrations.

‘In principle, the President has left it to the People’s Consultative Assembly to make the PPHN a guideline for cross-administration governance. The PPHN is not intended only for a temporary government but is to serve as a direction for the journey of governance across various periods,’ he said. ‘Therefore, the President has left it to the MPR mechanism to establish the PPHN as a guideline for future presidencies,’ he added.

Muzani noted that Prabowo welcomed the ideas within the PPHN. The President reportedly paid particular attention to points concerning democratisation and the administration of regional governance contained in the PPHN.

‘In fact, the President paid great attention to various points, including the process of democratisation and the administration of regional governance,’ Muzani continued.

According to Muzani, Prabowo views the administration of regional governance through the democratic process as expensive and extremely exhausting. Muzani said Prabowo is concerned about the rampant corruption cases involving regional heads.

‘One of the points is that the President considers the process of administering regional governance, carried out through a democratic process, to be expensive, unique, and very exhausting. However, he is also very concerned about various events occurring in the regions. Many regional heads have become ensnared in corruption cases. Therefore, he has asked that this issue be given serious attention for consideration,’ he stated.
