Jakarta - Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR RI) Eddy Soeparno received a visit from the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Indonesia, Abdulla Salem AlDhaheri, at the MPR Building, Parliamentary Complex, Jakarta, on 15 April 2026.

Eddy Soeparno explained that this meeting is a follow-up to discussions on efforts to expand cooperation between Indonesia and the UAE, particularly in the field of renewable energy.

“Both countries continue to strive to strengthen cooperation between Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates and follow up on various MoUs that have already been agreed upon, especially in the field of renewable energy development,” said Eddy after the meeting.

According to Eddy, the meeting took place amid the momentum of 50 years of diplomatic cooperation and friendship between the governments of Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates.

This politician from the National Mandate Party (PAN) stated that the UAE has a strong commitment to supporting the development of renewable energy in Indonesia.

“Currently, the UAE through Masdar manages the floating Solar Panel project in Cirata, West Java, which is planned to be further expanded and become the largest floating PLTS in the world,” he said.

Furthermore, this Deputy Chairman of PAN also highlighted the UAE’s plans to expand investments in the Cirata solar panel expansion, which represents full support for President Prabowo Subianto’s government plans to accelerate the transition to renewable energy.

In particular, through the 100 GW solar panel programme across Indonesia.

“We also conveyed to the Ambassador that we in the MPR continue to push for the steps and commitments of President Prabowo to accelerate the transition to renewable energy, including by accelerating the Oil and Gas Bill, the EBET Bill, and the Climate Change Management Bill,” he continued.

UAE Ambassador to Indonesia Abdulla Salem AlDhaheri expressed his thanks to Eddy Soeparno for supporting the UAE’s initiatives and investment plans in the field of renewable energy and the environment.

He stated that his presence at the MPR today is an effort to strengthen cooperation between Indonesia and the UAE.

“At the same time, to convey thanks to the Deputy Speaker of the MPR, Mr Eddy Soeparno, who has bridged and supported the UAE in various efforts to get involved in supporting the Indonesian government in accelerating the transition to renewable energy,” said the UAE Ambassador.
