MPR Leadership Meets Prabowo at Presidential Palace
The leadership of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) met with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday (3 August). Their visit was to invite Prabowo to the MPR Annual Session, part of the series of events commemorating the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, which is planned to be held on 14 August 2026. “Several state institutions, and today our arrival is to invite the President to the MPR Annual Session, which is planned to be held on Friday, 14 August,” said MPR Speaker Ahmad Muzani at the location. Besides President Prabowo, Muzani stated that they also invited former Presidents and Vice Presidents, as well as the general chairpersons of political parties, to the MPR Annual Session. “All former Presidents and Vice Presidents are invited, including the general chairpersons of political parties,” he added. On this occasion, Muzani was accompanied by MPR Deputy Speakers including Eddy Soeparno, Hidayat Nur Wahid, Bambang Pacul, Rusdi Kirana, and Lestari Moerdijat. On 14 August, Prabowo will deliver a state address at the MPR Annual Session. Following the address, the next day on Saturday, 15 August, a national pilgrimage and sacred reflection will be held at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery. The commemoration ceremony for the seconds of the proclamation and the lowering of the heritage flag will then be held on 17 August 2026 at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, with Prabowo acting as the ceremony inspector.
