MPR Leaders Reveal Prabowo's Response to Rampant Regional Head Corruption
President Prabowo Subianto is deeply concerned about the high number of regional heads implicated in corruption cases, according to People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Speaker Ahmad Muzani. Muzani made the statement after meeting Prabowo at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday.
“He is very concerned about the various incidents occurring in the regions. So many regional heads are trapped in corruption,” Muzani said. “He asked that this be given serious thought.”
Muzani also stated that Prabowo highlighted the costly, complicated, and exhausting nature of the democratic process for regional government administration. During the meeting, the MPR leaders also presented the concept of the State Policy Guidelines (PPHN) to the President, which Muzani said was well received.
“The discussion today was warm and productive,” Muzani added. The MPR leadership also used the occasion to formally invite President Prabowo to attend the 2026 MPR Annual Session, scheduled for 14 August 2026. Muzani was accompanied by Deputy Speakers Eddy Soeparno, Hidayat Nur Wahid, Bambang Pacul, Rusdi Kirana, and Lestari Moerdijat.
