MPR Leaders Meet President Prabowo to Discuss Annual Session

Leaders of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) held a meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Monday to discuss the MPR Annual Session ahead of the 81st Anniversary of Indonesian Independence. MPR Chairman Ahmad Muzani arrived around 14.46 WIB with his colleagues. He stated that the visit was part of a national gathering and to invite President Prabowo to the MPR Annual Session, which is scheduled to take place on Friday, 14 August 2026. “Today, the MPR leadership will meet with the President as part of the national silaturahmi we are conducting with several state institutions, and our arrival today is to invite the President to the MPR Annual Session planned for Friday, 14 August,” Muzani said. He noted that the meeting would only involve the MPR leadership and President Prabowo. Meanwhile, MPR Deputy Speaker Lestari Moerdijat mentioned that the meeting also included consultations ahead of the 17 August commemoration. She admitted she could not yet provide information regarding the specific issues to be discussed during the consultation. “Everyone (MPR leadership) will be present. We’ll talk after the meeting,” Lestari said. Other MPR Deputy Speakers in attendance included Eddy Soeparno, Hidayat Nur Wahid, Bambang Pacul, and Rusdi Kirana.
