Indonesia’s People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) will begin implementing efficiency measures on Wednesday (1/4).

Secretary General of the MPR RI, Siti Fauziah, stated that the efficiency will be carried out through employee work arrangements via work-from-home (WFH), work-from-anywhere (WFA), and savings in electricity usage.

“So, with this call for savings, we at the MPR are implementing WFA and WFH. This starts from tomorrow, 1 April. The rules have already been initiated, and electricity savings are being done by limiting working hours,” Siti said at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Tuesday (31/3).

She explained that electricity savings are achieved by turning off the power supply at 6:00 PM WIB, so all activities are expected to finish by 5:00 PM WIB.

Siti said the WFA and WFH scheme will be regulated so as not to disrupt the activities of MPR leaders or members.

The MPR is also adjusting employee work patterns to four working days per week. Meanwhile, on Fridays, a duty roster system will be applied.

“So, since we are not ruling out the possibility of activities by leaders or members on Fridays, there will be a duty roster; one unit will be represented by only two people, while the others WFH or WFA. That’s what we are implementing,” she said.

Siti reminded employees carrying out WFH or WFA that they must still come to the office if needed at any time.

“We are also applying rules that if there is a violation, for example, we ask them to return to the office and they don’t with various reasons, we will also apply sanction or disciplinary punishment rules according to the existing regulations,” she said.
