MPR Inaugurates Adela Adies as Replacement Member
Jakarta (ANTARA) - People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Speaker Ahmad Muzani inaugurated Adela Kanasya Adies as a replacement member for the remainder of the 2024–2029 term at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Monday. Adela Adies was sworn in to replace Adies Kadir, the former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR), who resigned after being appointed as a Constitutional Court judge. Before guiding the oath-taking, Muzani reminded Adela that the oath of office carries responsibilities to the nation and state, as well as the duty to uphold and safeguard Pancasila and the Constitution. “This oath is a promise to God Almighty and to mankind that must be fulfilled with sincerity and honesty,” the MPR Speaker stated. Adela then took the oath of office upon the Quran. “By Allah, I swear that I will fulfil my duties as a member of the People’s Consultative Assembly to the best of my ability and with the utmost fairness, in accordance with the laws and regulations, guided by Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia,” she declared. Adela swore to work earnestly to uphold democratic life and to prioritise the interests of the nation and state over personal, individual, or group interests. “I will fight for the aspirations of the people and the region I represent to realise the national goals for the benefit of the nation and the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia,” she added. The Golkar Party legislator had previously been inaugurated as a member of the DPR for the remainder of the 2024–2029 term. She took the oath guided by DPR Speaker Puan Maharani during the 18th DPR Plenary Session of the 5th Session Period for 2025–2026 at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday (12/5). Adies Kadir, who previously served as DPR Deputy Speaker and MPR member, was elected as a Constitutional Court judge proposed by the DPR. He took his oath of office as a Constitutional Court judge in February.
