Jakarta (ANTARA) - The General Secretariat of the MPR RI is implementing a work-from-home (WFH) policy, work-from-anywhere (WFA), and restrictions on electricity usage in the office environment to save energy amid the Middle East conflict. “With this call for savings, we at the MPR are implementing WFH and WFA. This starts from 1 April onwards. The rules have already been set, and electricity savings are being carried out by limiting working hours,” said MPR RI General Secretary Siti Fauziah during a press conference at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday. She explained that the work pattern for employees in the MPR RI environment will be regulated to four days per week. Specifically on Fridays, a duty roster system will be applied. “Because we are not ruling out the possibility of activities by leaders or members (of the MPR) on Fridays, there will be a duty roster. Each unit will be represented by only two people, while the others will be on WFH or WFA,” said Siti. According to Siti, the division of employees who will work directly in the office and those who will not will be arranged situationally. “We can’t say that there are no activities by MPR members or leaders. So, that will be arranged proportionally,” she stated. Nevertheless, employees carrying out WFH or WFA are asked to remain on standby in case they are later required to come to the office. This is to prevent employees from exploiting the policy to go out. “They must be ready to be called in. So, no one can be out of town and use the excuse ‘I’m on WFA or WFH’ to not come to the office,” she said. Siti added that there will be sanctions for employees who violate the rules. “For example, if we ask them to return to the office and they don’t return for various reasons, we will apply sanctions or disciplinary punishments in accordance with the existing rules,” she stated. She assured that this policy will not disrupt the institution’s performance. “We are doing all this for efficiency, but it will not affect the effectiveness of the performance of leaders, members, and the secretariat,” she said. Meanwhile, regarding the restriction on electricity usage, Siti explained that electricity in the office environment will be turned off at 6:00 PM. “We hope all activities will end at 5:00 PM. Starting from there, at 6:00 PM we will begin turning off the electricity,” she said.
