The People’s Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia is preparing the revision of the MPR History Book as part of efforts to strengthen public understanding of the role and journey of the MPR RI. The book is planned to be completed and launched next August, coinciding with the MPR RI’s anniversary.

Acting Secretary General of the MPR RI, Siti Fauziah, stated that the revision of the MPR History Book is motivated by the existence of the previous edition published in 2006, which was deemed incomplete and in need of updates.

Therefore, the MPR is taking steps to rewrite that history with various improvements. This was conveyed by Siti Fauziah at the Signing of the Cooperation Agreement between the MPR RI General Secretariat and the Faculty of Cultural Sciences at the University of Indonesia (FIB-UI) in the Delegate Room, Nusantara V, Parliament Complex, Jakarta, today.

“Initially, we had a history book published in 2006, but it was indeed incomplete and not continued. From there, the MPR leadership requested that this history be rewritten with various improvements,” Siti said in her statement on Monday (13/4/2026).

Siti Fauziah explained that the revision of the MPR History Book is not merely continuing the previous edition, but rewriting it comprehensively with a more thorough approach. This is considered important so that future generations can fully understand the role and function of the MPR.

“This history book is very important. How will the generations after us know what the MPR is? That is the basis for its compilation,” she said.

In the compilation process, the MPR RI is collaborating with the Faculty of Cultural Sciences at the University of Indonesia (FIB UI), which is regarded as having strong competence in Indonesian history and culture. This collaboration involves teams from both parties that have been working for the past several months.

“We already have teams, both from UI and from the MPR. The historical points have also been compiled and agreed upon together,” she explained.

Furthermore, she assured that the MPR RI will provide full support in forming the team and financing, as long as it complies with applicable regulations.

“The formation of the team from UI working with the MPR team has already been done. If there are other needs and they do not violate applicable regulations, we will certainly support them,” she stated.

She hopes that the MPR History Book will not only serve as an internal reference but also expand public knowledge regarding the history and role of the MPR RI.

“I hope this MPR history book will open the horizons of the public as well as MPR personnel themselves, because there is still much that is unknown about that history,” she concluded.
