Jakarta (ANTARA) - The People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) of the Republic of Indonesia ensures that the young generation possesses a sense of love for the homeland, understands the constitution, and upholds national values through the Marching and Flag Hoisting Competition (LKBB). MPR Chairman Ahmad Muzani, while attending the LKBB and Flag Hoisting for 2026 at the North Sulawesi provincial level in Manado on Saturday, stated that the competition is not merely a physical activity but part of building character through discipline, order, and compliance with rules. “This competition must instil and strengthen discipline, order, and obedience to rules as the primary foundation for shaping the character of Indonesia’s young generation,” he said, according to a statement received in Jakarta. He explained that the competition is part of a series of MPR RI activities commemorating the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia. Provincial-level winners will compete at the national level in August 2026 in Jakarta. According to him, LKBB and flag hoisting are chosen as means to build the character of Indonesia’s young generation towards Golden Indonesia 2045. The participants, comprising high school students, are future national leaders. “When Indonesia turns 100 years old in 2045, all of you here today will be the ones leading Indonesia forward,” Muzani said in his speech. In addition, the event serves as a platform for developing the creativity of the young generation combined with national values and defence of the state. “This competition also supports the implementation of the MPR’s Four Pillars, namely Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, NKRI, and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, from an early age to the young generation,” he stated. He mentioned that hoisting the Red and White flag requires strong mentality, skills, discipline, and courage. Therefore, the MPR continues to popularise marching and flag hoisting activities as efforts to strengthen love for state symbols and national unity. “In this way, we hope that the future Indonesia will be led by those who love the state symbols, love unity, and togetherness,” he said. Muzani noted that similar events are held in various regions across Indonesia. Provincial-level winners will perform at the national final, with the results announced coinciding with the 17 August commemoration.
