Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Chair of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) of the Republic of Indonesia, Lestari Moerdijat, is encouraging the utilisation of research and innovation results for public welfare as part of efforts to enhance national economic resilience. Lestari conveyed this during the Technical Guidance on Making Natural Cosmetics and Skincare from Organic Materials, organised by the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) in collaboration with the House of Representatives’ Commission X in Demak, Central Java, on Thursday. “The results of the training on making cosmetics and skincare from BRIN’s research are expected to meet the daily needs of the public and open up business opportunities to improve welfare,” said Mbak Rerie, her affectionate nickname, as per a statement received in Jakarta. Cosmetics and skincare products have become daily necessities for the public to maintain skin health. Therefore, she opined that the technical guidance on making cosmetics and skincare initiated by BRIN is not merely about sharing knowledge on beauty and health, but also about utilising BRIN’s research results to open up business opportunities for the people. Rerie, who is also a member of the House of Representatives’ Commission X, stated that the national cosmetics market reached Rp146 trillion last year. With this technical guidance, participants are expected to utilise their skills to develop them into home-based businesses. She also appreciated BRIN’s steps in disseminating its research and innovation results that align with the public’s daily needs. Synergy between BRIN and the community is hoped to be strengthened consistently. “To encourage the utilisation of research and innovation results that can improve public welfare,” she said.
