MPR discusses annual session preparations ahead of Independence Day during MK visit
The leadership of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) discussed preparations for the annual session ahead of the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia during a visit to the Constitutional Court (MK). MPR Chairman Ahmad Muzani said the delegation was received by all constitutional justices, including Chief Justice Suhartoyo and Deputy Chief Justice Saldi Isra, at the MK Building in Jakarta on Wednesday afternoon. “The discussion concerned the planned preparations for the MPR Annual Session ahead of the 17 August commemoration, which traditionally involves inviting state institutions,” Muzani stated during a press conference. On that occasion, the MPR leadership directly extended an invitation to the MK to attend the annual session, in keeping with yearly tradition. “We conveyed that as part of the series leading up to the annual session, we are beginning our national gatherings today with various state institutions, starting with the MK,” he said. Following the MK visit, Muzani noted that the MPR leadership would conduct similar visits to the Supreme Court and the Presidential Office the following week. “Invitation letters will of course be delivered, especially to former presidents, former vice presidents, and certainly the general chairpersons of political parties,” he added. Muzani was accompanied during the MK visit by MPR Deputy Chairpersons Hidayat Nur Wahid, Rusdi Kirana, and Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono, as well as MPR Secretary-General Siti Fauziah.
