MPR Deputy Chairman: Ramadan is a moment to strengthen values of togetherness and care
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono, Deputy Chairman of the MPR RI, stated that the month of Ramadan is a momentum to strengthen the values of togetherness and social care as the nation’s strength.
The man familiarly known as Ibas assessed that the nation’s strength also lies in the spirit of gotong royong and mutual assistance among fellow citizens.
“Ramadan is a month full of wisdom, full of forgiveness, and full of blessings. In this month, we learn to remain patient, sincere, and caring. Ramadan teaches us that the strength of this nation is in maintaining ties of kinship and togetherness,” said Ibas in a written statement received in Jakarta on Thursday.
He conveyed this in the context of community outreach with the constituents of Electoral District VII in East Java during the “Ramadan Demokrat Peduli dan Berbagi” activities.
The activities included inspections of the Self-Help Housing Stimulus Assistance (BSPS) programme, irrigation programme reviews, workshops and training related to the creative economy, ensuring the SPPG kitchen operates optimally in each area, maintaining ties of kinship with kyai and ulama, and organising a free homecoming programme for the community.
According to him, such social activities and outreach are a concrete manifestation of the Democratic Party’s presence among the people. Lifting the previous Ramadan safari theme, “Ramadan Religi Menguatkan Negeri”, he affirmed the Democratic Party’s commitment to continue being present and providing real benefits to the people.
“This is proof that the Democrats are present, caring, and sharing. The Democrats do not stay silent; they go directly down to greet and directly alleviate the burdens of the community. This is a concrete form of love for the homeland, not words but real deeds,” he said.
He also conveyed that the 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, advised that the Democratic Party must be a clean, intelligent, and caring party.
“Politics is about service, about opening paths to help the people,” he said.
