MPR Decides West Kalimantan 4 Pillars Quiz Final Will Not Be Replayed

The MPR has decided that the final of the MPR RI 4 Pillars Quiz at the West Kalimantan provincial level will not be replayed. This decision was reached after the two finalist schools declared they would accept the competition results.

The Chairman of the MPR RI Socialisation Body, Abraham Liyochanto, stated that the institution has received letters from SMAN 1 Pontianak and SMAN 1 Sambas regarding the controversy surrounding the final. He noted that both schools rejected the idea of a rematch.

“They both support the decision that there is no need for a re-run, and therefore, in a meeting held today with the full MPR leadership, we decided to follow what has been conveyed by both schools,” Abraham said during a press conference at the MPR building in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday (18/5/2026).

He added that SMAN 1 Pontianak visited the MPR to express its refusal on Thursday (14/5), and SMAN 1 Sambas followed suit on Friday (15/5). “We believe that the statements made by both schools truly implement the lessons of the Four Pillars themselves. It demonstrates the tolerance and unity they uphold, accepting that Sambas will proceed to the final. Furthermore, it reflects justice and democracy,” he remarked.

Previously, SMAN 1 Pontianak had stated it would not participate if the 2026 West Kalimantan 4 Pillars Quiz final were replayed. The school expressed respect for the established results and supported SMAN 1 Sambas as West Kalimantan’s representative at the national level.

“SMAN 1 Pontianak respects the established competition results and offers full support to SMAN 1 Sambas as the representative of West Kalimantan for the national 4 Pillars Quiz,” said the Head of SMAN 1 Pontianak, Indang Maryati, in a written statement. The school also emphasised that its initial actions were not intended to annul the results, but were solely aimed at seeking clarification regarding the scoring process during the final.
