MPR Decides to Cancel Re-run of 4 Pillars Quiz Final in West Kalimantan

The MPR RI has decided to cancel the re-run of the 2026 4 Pillars Quiz (LCC) final at the West Kalimantan provincial level. This decision comes after both participating schools, SMAN 1 Sambas and SMAN 1 Pontianak, expressed their refusal to have the final held again, noting that SMAN 1 Sambas had already been declared the winner.

“During our meeting today with the full MPR leadership, we decided to follow the position presented by both schools,” stated Abraham Liyanto, Chairman of the MPR Socialisation Body, during a press conference at the DPR Building in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday (18/5/2026).

SMAN 1 Pontianak emphasised that they would not be involved in any re-run of the 2026 West Kalimantan 4 Pillars Quiz. In their statement, the school clarified that their actions were not intended to attack or undermine the credibility of the institution, the committee, or any specific individuals. Instead, they stated that their efforts were solely aimed at seeking confirmation and clarification to ensure a transparent, objective, and accountable competition mechanism.

“SMAN 1 Pontianak has no intention of annulling the competition results, but merely seeks clarity regarding the disputed points,” wrote Indang, representing the school. SMAN 1 Pontianak also stated that they respect the established results and offer full support to SMAN 1 Sambas as the representative of West Kalimantan for the national-level 4 Pillars Quiz.

Furthermore, SMAN 1 Pontianak issued an apology for the recent commotion and called for all parties to resolve the issue with a spirit of togetherness and mutual respect.

Meanwhile, SMAN 1 Sambas stated that they respect every official decision made by the competition committee. “We express our respect for every official decision made as part of the competition mechanism, believing that the 4 Pillars LCC participants from SMAN 1 Sambas competed in accordance with the rules set by the committee and agreed upon by all participants,” the school wrote on its official Instagram account, as quoted on Saturday (16/5/2026).

“SMAN 1 Sambas rejects the re-run of the West Kalimantan provincial final. We hope all parties can exercise restraint, respect the ongoing process, and prioritise a wise, objective, and fair resolution,” the school asserted.
