MPR Chief Muzani Sued at Central Jakarta District Court Over Quiz Competition Dispute

Ahmad Muzani, Chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), has been sued at the Central Jakarta District Court (PN Jakpus) following the controversy surrounding the final round of the Four Pillars Quiz Competition (LCC) at the West Kalimantan Provincial level in 2026.

A spokesperson for PN Jakpus, Sunoto, stated that the lawsuit was filed by David Tobing and registered under case number 335/Pdt.G/2026/PN Jkt.Pst.

In addition to Muzani, David has also sued the judges and master of ceremonies who served at the final event, namely Dyasita Widya Budi, Indri Wahyuni, and Shindy Luthfiana.

In his petition, David requested that the panel of judges grant the plaintiff’s claims in full and declare that the defendants committed unlawful conduct. He further sought an order to dismiss Dyasita Widya Budi and Indri Wahyuni from their positions as employees at the MPR. Additionally, David requested that both judges be prohibited from serving as judges in any official state activities at regional, central, or national levels.

“The first hearing is scheduled for 2 June 2026,” Sunoto stated in a written statement.

As of now, CNNIndonesia.com has not received a response from Ahmad Muzani regarding the lawsuit.

The panel of judges presiding over the case comprises: Presiding Judge Ummi Kusuma Putri, and Member Judges I Gusti Ngurah Partha Bhargawa and Zeni Zenal Mutaqin.

The viral incident during the Four Pillars MPR Quiz Competition final in West Kalimantan Province began when the judging panel awarded different scores to identical answers provided by teams B and C in a contested question.

A question posed by the master of ceremonies, citing from the MPR’s YouTube channel, asked: “The leadership of the Supreme Audit Board (BPK) is elected by and from its members. However, to become a BPK member, the relationship with regional representatives is maintained. What entity’s consideration must the House of Representatives take into account when selecting BPK members?”

Team C from SMAN 1 Pontianak, which rang the buzzer first, answered that the members of the Supreme Audit Board are selected by the House of Representatives whilst taking into account the consideration of the Regional Representatives Council and are inaugurated by the President.

However, one of the judges, Dyasita, the Head of the Assessment Bureau of the MPR Secretariat General, awarded team C a score of -5 for their answer.

When team B provided the same answer, the judges awarded them 10 points.

“Yes, the core of the answer is correct. 10 points,” said Dyasita.

A member of team C immediately protested, expressing confusion as their answer was marked incorrect despite being identical to team B’s response.

“Excuse me, we answered the same as team B. It’s the same,” said team C.

However, judge Dyasita argued that team C’s answer did not include the Regional Representatives Council.

“Team C mentioned that earlier, the consideration from the Regional Representatives Council was absent. It was the House of Representatives,” said Dyasita.

Team C protested again, stating that their original answer had included the Regional Representatives Council. However, Dyasita remained firm.

“So the judges’ panel concluded that the Regional Representatives Council was not mentioned,” said Dyasita.

Team C continued to protest and requested that the judges seek the audience’s opinion on whether their answer included the Regional Representatives Council. However, Dyasita stated that the decision remained with the judges’ panel.

Another judge, Indri Wahyuni, Head of the MPR Socialization Board Secretariat, instead requested that the participants clarify their articulation when answering questions.

“Look, you were warned from the beginning that articulation is important. So, get used to answering with clear articulation. If you think you have, but the judges’ panel thinks you haven’t because we didn’t hear your articulation clearly, then it means the judges’ panel has the right to award -5 points. So once more we remind you to pay attention to your articulation,” said Indri Wahyuni.
