MPR Chairman Invites BPK to Annual Session on 14 August, Discusses Improved Audit Trends
People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Chairman Ahmad Muzani paid a visit to the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) office. In addition to a friendly gathering, he invited the BPK Chair and her staff to attend the MPR Annual Session scheduled for 14 August.
“This visit is part of a national silaturahmi among state institutions, leading up to the MPR Annual Session planned for Friday, 14 August 2026,” Muzani told reporters at the BPK office in Central Jakarta on Monday (10/8).
Muzani also conveyed that during the forum, the MPR leadership hoped the BPK would present its annual performance report. The report will subsequently be read by the President at the MPR Annual Session.
Furthermore, Muzani explained that they discussed the audit work carried out by the BPK as the legitimate institution authorised to audit the government, both at the central and regional levels. As a result of the discussion, Muzani said the BPK reported that an increasing number of ministries and institutions are receiving the Unqualified Opinion (WTP) predicate.
“From what was conveyed by the BPK Chair and several colleagues, there is a trend that audits are improving, and more local governments, provincial, regency/city governments, ministries, and institutions are obtaining the WTP predicate. This is certainly welcome news,” Muzani stated.
Muzani explained that WTP signifies conformity between financial evidence and government accounting standards. The growing number of ministries and institutions achieving WTP reflects that state financial management is being conducted properly and effectively.
“Hopefully, in the future, state financial management will become even more accountable, efficient, and effective,” he added.
On the same occasion, BPK Chair Isma Yatun expressed her gratitude for the visit from the MPR leadership. She also expressed hope that the silaturahmi between the MPR and various ministries and institutions would facilitate the smooth running of the MPR Annual Session on 14 August.
“The hope is for the smoothness and success of the event on 14 August,” said Isma Yatun.
She also mentioned that the BPK and MPR held a brief discussion regarding the governance and accountability of central and local government financial reports. As a result of the discussion, she said the MPR Chairman expressed appreciation to the BPK.
“The Chairman appreciated the recommendations that must be followed up by all entities that have been given the results of their financial audits,” she revealed.
She noted that the meeting was largely filled with casual conversation, yet its purpose remained focused on matters beneficial for the nation and state.
