MPR Chairman Ahmad Muzani has highlighted the rising global conflicts that could spark divisions, including in the Islamic world. However, he stated that amid this situation, the level of harmony in Indonesia remains relatively high.

Muzani expressed this during his speech at the MUI Halal Bihalal event at the Sultan Hotel in Jakarta on Wednesday (15/4/2026). He said that based on a survey presented by Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar, Indonesia is one of the countries with a good level of harmony in the world.

“We must be grateful that Indonesia is in a safe condition, Indonesia is in a peaceful state, and we remain harmonious to this day. Earlier, the Minister of Religious Affairs whispered to me that the survey results indicate Indonesia is one of the countries with a fairly high level of harmony in the world,” said Muzani.

According to him, this condition is inseparable from the significant role of ulama, kiai, and religious figures who continue to provide calm to society. He also emphasised the role of security forces, namely the TNI and Polri, in maintaining national stability.

“How could this happen if disturbances were allowed by the police? How could this happen if threats to sovereignty were ignored by the TNI? And that is prevented from the start by our soldiers and police. That is why in state affairs, we must share responsibilities,” he stated.

Furthermore, Muzani highlighted the world’s condition still plagued by armed conflicts. He said that war brings major impacts on humanity and the economy.

Nevertheless, he noted that Indonesia is currently in a safe condition. He mentioned that President Prabowo Subianto has repeatedly assured that there will be no fuel price increases due to the impact of conflicts in the Middle East.

“Time and again, President Prabowo has conveyed to us that war is so evil, war is so dangerous, war is so cruel, with no limits to humanity, no regard for pity, and no regard for humanitarianism,” he said.

“Indeed, under the laws of war, children must not be killed, women must not be killed, the elderly must not be killed, and facilities unrelated to war must not be destroyed. But what happens is that children, the elderly, and women are destroyed,” he continued.

Muzani also called on all elements of the nation to maintain the harmony that has been established. In addition, he said, collaboration between ulama and the government must be strengthened for national stability amid global dynamics.

“What Indonesia does in that situation is to continue safeguarding world peace. That is the demand of our constitution. We must not stop voicing calls for world peace,” he stated.

“We must not stop advocating for the importance of diplomacy. We must not stop advocating for the importance of negotiations, because no matter how heavy the issues in differences are, they must be resolved through negotiations and diplomacy,” he added.
