Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Ahmad Muzani visited the Nusantara Capital (IKN) to inspect the construction progress, particularly regarding the legislative and judicial buildings. Muzani stated that the purpose of his visit along with his colleagues was to ascertain when the people’s representatives could relocate to IKN.

“The purpose of our arrival, all of us along with the MPR leaders, is to ensure when we will move, where we will move, and today we have received certainty that we will move to a more magnificent building in IKN,” said Muzani on his official Instagram @ahmadmuzani2, quoted on Sunday (26/4/2026).

He even admitted to being surprised by the information from the Head of the IKN Authority (OIKN), Basuki Hadimuljono, that the new parliament building in IKN has already received approval from President Prabowo Subianto.

“Today we were also surprised by the information conveyed by the Head of OIKN, Mr Basuki, that the new MPR, DPR, and DPD Parliament building in IKN has received approval from the President (Prabowo), including approval for the judicial building,” Muzani continued.

He further explained that parliament members are assured to relocate to IKN once all construction processes are completed.

“What does that mean? Insha’Allah, we will still move to IKN. Waiting for the MPR building to be completed, Mr Basuki,” clarified Muzani.

Muzani added that IKN is not merely a capital and government centre, but also a new growth centre for Indonesia’s economy in the future.

“This is the leaps that will continue to be made by our leaders, and in the future, I think from this place, we will find various big ideas about Greater Indonesia, about Indonesia’s future, and about Indonesia’s 100 Years in 2045,” he explained.

Muzani did not deny the many public questions about whether parliament would relocate to IKN. Through today’s visit, he no longer hesitated to state that the relocation of parliament members to IKN is a certainty.

“This is important because discussions in society, on social media, even at the political level, often become topics of conversation. The political decision that we will move is already in place, because the law on IKN has been decided by us. But when we will move is the issue. And today we came to confirm when we will move, and we are even more convinced that the certainty of the move is becoming clearer,” he said.

According to him, President Prabowo has emphasised that IKN must reflect Indonesia’s state architecture, where the legislative, executive, and judicial branches must operate side by side.

“Mr President always says that IKN must reflect our state architecture. There is the executive, legislative, and judicial. Our state architecture has received approval from him, from the design by Mr Basuki and colleagues. That means there is certainty that all government apparatus, both legislative, executive, and judicial, will move in the same year,” he concluded.
